The working method / Conjuration

To know differently,
return differently.

Conjuration is the research and practical method through which Negromancy investigates historically active relations. Its movements are ordered, but not final or one-way.

Conjuration: relational method and return depicted through layered research concepts

Seven movements, one recurring inquiry
  1. Mystery

Begin with an encounter the available explanation does not exhaust. Name the problem; do not treat the unexplained as proof of the supernatural.

  2. Opacity

Hold apart what is seen, inferred, imagined and unavailable. An ethical limit on possession is not a reason to stop checking evidence.

  3. Conjuration ↶ Sankofa

Trace the relation through historical materials, institutions, bodies, practices and changing forms of authority. Move backward through apparent origins and forward through transformations to the present.

  4. Witness

Return to the encounter. What has become newly recognizable through historical inquiry? What remains only an impression?

  5. Testimony

Document the encounter, evidence, interpretation and speculation separately. Ask what is being constituted and who bears its costs.

  6. Re-witness

Submit the testimony to sources, other witnesses, counterexamples and consequences. Record the revision or failure.

  7. Atonement

Determine what an answerable response requires: correction, refusal, further investigation, repair or changed practice. Do not claim repair without evidence.

Sankofa is not an eighth step. It is the returning movement through the inquiry.

The name Conjuration refers both to the whole practice and to its third, genealogical movement. The operation may restart at any point when evidence, experience or contradiction requires it.

Methodological interpretation This is a public, operational description of a developing private philosophical method. It is not the full originating manuscript or an authorized final doctrine.
What the method investigates

The relations behind recognition.

The method turns attention from what an object seems to be toward how it has become perceptible, recognizable, legitimate and actionable.

That change of attention is not proof that every apparent object conceals the same structure. Specific relations have to be demonstrated through specific histories.

What protects the method from itself?

A claim can fail.

Evidence

An archive, source, model output or material observation must be identifiable.

Interpretation

Every proposed relation can be challenged by a rival account.

Speculation

Intuition and spiritual meaning may open questions, but cannot certify empirical causes.

The test is not whether Conjuration produces the language of historical consciousness. It is whether the inquiry reveals warranted differences in understanding, practice and consequence.
